Surfers & Grom Churches

Surfers Church will move (next week) and start to meet at Zeebra Café where many from the local surfing community hang out. If you are in the area – head there on Mondays at 7 pm. “It's well known, attractive, and run by a generous local surfing family,” says Steve Bligh – the planter. “Around 50 people can fit in – and this is a very public venue.” It will be a big change – and lift their profile – but their house meeting place has been getting too crowded.

Grom Church (for grommets – or young surfers) has been gathering for 5 weeks (at 6 pm on Sundays). “We've just explored God's love, and Genesis 1 together – and are about to start Matthew's Gospel,” says Steve. “One of the original Bra-Boys and his wife open up their rumpus room and playground for this. I usually leave feeling quite emotional, since it staggers me to see the groms responding so beautifully … It's life-changing!”

“You may be interested to know that our Monday night gatherings (Surfers Church) have explored Mission Minded, and the New Testament letters of Romans and James,” says Steve. “Also, there have been plenty of Question/Answer nights, and some guest Bible teachers.”

Surfers Church is now a Church Army Base of Evangelism (Anglican) at Maroubra Beach. Check out their website www.maroubrasurferschurch.org.au – or to read earlier stories go to http://churcharmy.com.au/past_articles.htm.
